Arbor white is deep and complex, thick tea with low tones and a subtle natural feel. This tea has a long development over the course of a session and can be a bit heavy. Not an ideal daily drinker, the Arbor white is better left for occasions where one can immerse themselves in this tea.
Channel Orange was pressed in 2015 into a chocolate bar shape. The brick is a mixed of a white2tea Puer blend and a mix of 3-8 years old Xinhui Chenpi, the dried skins of mandarin oranges. The result is a thick and fragrant natural melding of fruit flavors and the characteristic smooth body of ripe Puer. The 2016 Brown Sugar is made from a large percentage of huangpian [the largest leaf used in Puer production]. The soup is sweet and smooth, with a light and approachable character. This tea was produced in autumn of 2017 using a traditional technique for bamboo Puer pressing and a specific variety of fragrant bamboo. The base material is identical to our 2017 Turtle Dove. The aromatics of the bamboo and the roast of the fire have engulfed with the white tea to make a very unique tea. It has a complex character of sweetness and smoothness, melded with the heavy nature of being roasted on an open flame. The tea will benefit from a few months of rest, as it was processed in late October of 2017, and as of the release the taste of the roast is still quite fresh. Drink now or aged as desired. We decided to produce this tea according to the natural shapes of the bamboo rather than waste pieces that didn’t fit our ideal shape or size. 2016 Orange Drop is made with blended aged ripe Puer material and a fresh 2016 Xinhui Mandarin. The tea is meant to be drunk with the orange and all. You can brew the entire orange, tea and all, without breaking it up. They are harvested when the fruit is extremely young and unripe, hence the small size and greenish hue. The early steeps are very astringent, so if you dislike the fresh green bite, toss out the first 2-3 steeps, and drink the next 12 or so. Most of the cost of this tea is due to the high price of both the handmade labor and the prized skins of Xinhui Mandarins, which cost much more than most Puer tea by weight. The material in the bricks is identical Nannuo mountain material, but each brick was commissioned to be processed by only one person. The sister brick is material processed with a shorter kill green phase at a lower temperature, where as the brother brick is processed with a higher flame and fried for a longer time. These are their natural processing styles as people, I simply told them to process the tea as they normally would and to keep their respective materials separate for pressing. This set is best used in a side by side comparison to see how the person processing a tea can influence the end results of identical material. It should shed light on how much variation can truly occur, not only within a "single origin" tea, but even within a family using identical material from a single tea garden. The Fade brick is a raw Puer tea, pressed in 2016 using 2015 Yiwu Huangpian [the largest leaf in Puer processing] material. While huangpian are often considered to be inexpensive, the quality of the material in this blend is very high. The tea is sweet and thick. There is a slight sour note in the tea which will give way to honey and smoothness with further aging. We also feel this tea has a strong body feeling, though that varies from person to person. Censers is an elegant white tea with a full bodied smoothness. A blend of both white and black tea, Hot Brandy is a completely new style of cake that was born of experimentation. The soup is thick, smooth, and fragrant. It fairs well with both gongfu style and western style brewing. The tea has excellent endurance and can steep for a very long time and can even withstand being simmered or boiled without becoming acrid.
