Our goal when making the basics set was to offer an affordable crash course in Puer tea to anyone, anywhere.
The set contains the following four 100 gram mini-cakes:
2018 Spring Raw Puer Tea
2017 Autumn Raw Puer Tea
2018 Huangpian
2014 Aged Raw Puer Tea
The spring and autumn teas are from the same village and same farmer, in order to provide a direct vertical tasting between seasons. The huangpian[the larger, older leaves] cake is from spring 2018 and can be used as a way to understand raw Puer when it is pressed with a larger grade of leaf. The aged raw Puer allow for new Puer drinkers to experience what several years of age can do to smooth out a raw Puer tea.

Our goal when making this tea terroir set was to offer an affordable educational experience with single origin ripe Puer tea.
The set contains the following four regions, each with a100 gram mini-cake:
Menghai
Lincang / Mengku
Lancang / Jingmai
Yiwu
We purchased all of these teas in their entirety as raw maocha in 2016. We then had them piled in individual small batches in 2017 using a technique where small batches of ripe Puer are fermented in bamboo baskets, off of the ground, using water from a mountain spring nearby Menghai. We were hands on during this entire process from start to finish and opted for a small batch pile process in order to ensure the integrity of the base material.
These teas were removed from the piling process in late 2017. Each tea was in the pile an average of 35 days.
Although this is meant to be an educational set, the ripe Puer used in each cake is very high quality, making it appropriate for both beginners and experienced drinkers alike.

The Tea Terroir Raw Puer Sample Set includes four 100 gram cakes from the following regions:
Menghai
Lancang/Jingmai
Lincang/Mengku
Yiwu
Tea Terroir is a tasting set that explores the differences between regions in Yunnan. The entire set is raw Puer tea, processed in nearly identical fashion. However, each region has specific environmental factors that affect the terroir of the tea, such as soil, weather, and altitude. While each cake is an introduction to the region, keep in mind that each region also has vast variations. For example, Menghai area teas have literally thousands of variations, of which this tasting set can only represent a very quick glimpse.

Our goal when making the basics set was to offer an affordable crash course in ripe Puer tea to anyone, anywhere.
The Basics Puer tea sample set is a tool for education and for introducing tea drinkers to ripe Puer tea. The set contains the following four 100 gram mini-cakes:
2015 Buds and Small Leaves (Grades: Gongting [Imperial], Teji [Special], Grade 1)
2015 Medium Size Leaves (Grades 3-5)
2015 Larger Coarse Leaves (Grades 7-9, including stems and huangpian [the largest leaf in Puer processing])
2015 Old Reliable (Our house blend, which involves all of the above grades, but not identical teas)
We have separated ripe Puer tea into three distinct cakes; they ascend from the smallest leaf to the largest leaf. Each cake only has material from specific graded sizes in order to amplify the traits that each grade of leaf has to offer. The fourth cake is our house blend, Old Reliable, which can be used as a comparison to why a blend of ripe Puer tea tends to give a deeper experience than simply pressing a single grade.
Although this is meant to be an educational set, the ripe Puer used in each cake is very good quality, making it appropriate for both beginners and experienced drinkers alike.
