Longer than usual announcement post here, but stick with us.
The world is shaken up right now. Life in China for us has been touch and go for months. For many people throughout the rest of the world, the struggles continue or the real impact is just beginning to hit.
What does this have to do with white2tea? Well, we had 100 kilograms of loose raw Puer from 2015 that was being saved for a rainy day and this seems like as rainy a string of days as any, so last week we pressed it into cakes to give some away.
We are planning to give away 100 of these cakes (shipping and all) and sell the other 400 for a very low price ($15 per cake for 200 grams of five year old material we aged ourselves). There is a limit of one free cake per customer. It's our hope that this tea can offer a little solace to people who are having a tough time financially or emotionally right now.
If you have been directly affected by this virus and have taken a big financial hit, have lost your employment, or just plain can't swing a big tea budget, then grab yourself a free cake with your order and the shipping is on us. Please use the coupon code umbrellaafter adding a 2020 Umbrella cake to your cart and we will send you the 200 grams of tea free, no shipping costs** and no questions asked.
This is a somewhat risky proposition in a time when earnest action is a little hard to find, but we're going to do it anyway. Please, we'd appreciate it if you only take us up on the coupon code above if you're really in need. The plan is to send 100 packages free of charge, but we might aim higher or lower in the event of overwhelming earnest response or a troll army demanding free tea.
We appreciate all of you who have supported us over the years and we sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are able to stay safe.
*A quick last note: shipping from China right now is both unpredictable for timing and prices. Just this morning we heard of a spate of cancelled flights and big shipping rate increases as well. We will try to ship orders as fast as we can, but even leaving Chinese customs has been known to take a week. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as global shipping will tend to take a lot longer than usual during this crisis.
**The shipping will be manually refunded for your order.
Oolong or wulong is a broad category of teas, in the spectrum between green and black tea, that originate in China. What sets oolong apart is that it can be processed with various different oxidation and roasting levels. The unique variations in the process to produce oolong create a wide array of flavors and sensations. Oolong can taste fresh, green, floral, fruity, roasted, woody, nutty, or honey-sweet, so this is a type of tea that can appeal to virtually all taste buds. Different tea plant varietals, seasons, styles, and regional terroir also influence flavor.
Shou Puer tea, also called ripe Puer, is a post-fermented tea from Yunnan province, China. Made usingraw Puer tea as the base material, the pile fermentation process transforms this green caterpillar into a magnificent dark butterfly. Or at least that’s how we look at it.
In this guide, you'll learn the history of shou Puer, how it's made, how to find and appreciate high-quality cakes, and more.
